KAMISSA-STAMBOOM

Kamissa-stamboom (Kamissa Family Tree): In Kora, the Khoe language of the Cape, ǁkhamis sa means 'sweet water for all' and 'the place of sweet waters' and refers to the area known today as Cape Town, as well as the, now mostly underground, river network flowing from the mountain to the sea. This work incorporates pigment from the Old Slave Tree in Woodstock, Cape Town, that has stood as a living witness in the Cape for more than 500 years.
