Krotoa Goringhaicona (1643–1674), also known as Eva van Meerhoff, was a Khoe woman and a skilled translator and cultural mediator between the Dutch colonists and her indigenous community. She is my 11th great-grandmother and also a maternal ancestor of many South Africans.
